The 2006 New Year resolutions thread (http://mostlycloudy.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157)

So how did I do on my resolutions for 2006?

Work and teh monies are important, but I will make more time for myself. Proof will be completion of an RPG or RTS I haven't played before.
I will hump more honeys. Proof will be a silly grin and possibly children I don't know about.
Play more video games. Okay, uh, I probably didn't complete a single new RPG or RTS in 2006, so I technically didn't meet the goal. But I definitely played a lot more video games than in 2005. I finished Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, completed 2/3 campaigns in Rise of Legends, beat the first difficulty in Elite Beat Agents, played a shit-ton of Mario Strikers, beat the tar out of Dynasty Warriors V: Empires (that has turn-based strategy and action-RPG elements, but isn't a classical RTS or RPG), got something like 2/3 through X-Men Legends 2 with James, and am ranked #37 out of 6400 players in OGame. B
Honeys (honies?). Oh yeah baby. I still don't got no one to call my own, but that wasn't a goal for 2006. A+Resolutions for 2007

Embiggen my piggy bank. The start-up in 2005 sucked my bank account almost dry, and I only put away cash for about 6 months at Netflix before I cranked up my 401K and ESPP to 11 and have been breaking even every paycheck since. (We're only eligible for the 401K at 6 months, so to make up for lost time, I made my 401K paycheck cut something like 25% IIRC. I'll be eligible to cash out ESPP goodies in May '07, I think.) So with my January 1 comp adjustment and keen sense of finance (cough), I will penis pump my piggy bank to victory in 2007!
Start and finish a new RPG, RTS, or adventure game. For serious this time.
Draw more. I seriously have only 7 pages of sketches and drawings I did in 2006. SEVEN. I'm going to start doing lots of crappy little doodles and posting them all in my LJ. I'll let you guys be the judge of sufficient quantity.
Finish reading Infinite Jest. Seriously, this isn't even about books in general. I've been reading this on the can at a pace of 1.3 pages a day for the last 6 months. At that rate, it will take me 2 years to read all 980 pages (an additional 18 months from today). UNACCEPTABLE.
Find me someone special 'n make her mine. Okay, you kind of can't just resolve to do something like this because it involves more than just willpower and being awesome (two things you guys know I have in excess). For me to find someone I like, let alone someone who likes me, let alone let alone mutual lubs that last more than a couple months, requires a conspiracy of cosmic alignments and social standings, a confluence of fortunate events. Nevertheless! Hide your daughters and sisters.

I'll say I have one resolution since I thought of it last night. If it wasn't so close to New Years then I probably wouldn't call it anything.

I resolve to not be ashamed of anything.

2006
My main 2006 resolution was to finish one of my novels.

This didn't happen--buying the house and doing repair work and cleaning threw me out of the writing loop for several months. I feel it's an acceptable excuse. I made another resolution halfway through the year to get the hell out of dodge (re: the house of puppies and strife), and I did so, so hurray! I didn't accomplish all of my goals, but I wasn't a sloth, either.

2007
I've got more than usual this year, but some of it is just getting back into good old habits that I've managed to shed in the past few months.

Get back into the awesome shape I was in before I got the house and stopped working out/running five times a week. I made time for it before and I'll make time for it now. Awesome goes away fast, and I've got some catchin' up to do.
Novel: Round 2. Failure is not an option! Since I'm halfway through a solid draft this should come to fruition fairly naturally, so I'll add a second part: Not only does it have to be finished, it has to be ready to send out by Dec 31st. OH SHI
Completely finish all house repairs and improvement inside and out. I've made good progress, but there's still a ton of stuff to do.
Read more books. I listen to tons of audiobooks at work, but that's not the same as actually reading a book. I resolve to read at least a chapter every night before bed. I started back on Dune again and it is pretty much awesome.

Uh... I better stop. There are other things I want to do, like start a vegetable garden and bake more bread and play more video games, but if I add anything else I think I'll overwhelm myself and explode.

My resolutions are pretty much like Sheri's, except instead of doing house repairs, I plan on teaching myself piano (I've had this book ever since 8th grade, I might as well use it). Ever since my hospital stay, I've been trying to exercise and meditate regularly, and I'd like to be more consistent about it.

But my main resolutions for '07 are: get a new friggin' job, and a friggin' girlfriend.
