MC will be down for an IP change starting 9/30. It might be a day or two before it works again for you since DNS changes have to propagate.
Edit: Now 10/8/05 or thereabouts. Read below.

The last 24 hours were not the anticipated downtime. Rather, Comcast decided to terminate my service prematurely. They confirmed that it was an error yesterday shortly after the disconnect, but I had to wait till today to get it reconnected.
In short, there's another downtime coming up when the IP changes.

We may never come back from this, boys. This could be it. This could be the end. Maybe we'll make it and maybe we won't. But I want you to know that you guys--each and every one of you--you're greats. I couldn't ask for a finer bunch of fellas. And maybe when it does end, and we're all gone, and there's nothing left, maybe you'll still carry that in your heart or soul or whatever you wanna call it. You're great, guys. You're the best and, by God, we'll go down knowing we did everything we could to save this crazy mess of a world.

Someone's not taking this seriously. (I need my :hmmm: smiley.)
I've extended my lease and Comcast service till 10/10/05. I'll see how quickly I can get DSL set up at the new place.

Another downtime, 4-5 hours long. There was a power outage around 4:15 AM (when I had thankfully just finished my work, but before I got to bed). MC's UPS held out at least till 4:55 when I hit the sack, but I guess the power outage was longer. MC is supposed to come online when the power comes back, but there were 2 issues:
MC's boot was halted because the keyboard was leaning against something, resulting in a "stuck key" BIOS message.
One of the MySQL updates from the past few months broke the config file, so I had to fix the config to start it up.
On an unrelated note, vBulletin 3.5 is out. I'll install it soon, but not right now-- I got about 4 hours' sleep and I'd like a little more. *yawn*
When I looked out the window, I saw it was just my side of the street. There's an outage (usually just seconds or minutes) maybe every 4-6 weeks, and it's no fun. I hope my new place won't be so outage-licious.

I heard that Californians sacrifice electricity for chic. Is this true? Y/N

No, we just had a stupid governor who de-monopolized utilities without unfixing prices, allowing our utility companies to go down the crapper. THANKS GREY!
